FIRST

HOLE 1   •   PAR 5   •   589 YARDS

The Opening 3-shotter features a generous and inviting fairway that sets early confidence. A pair of cross-bunkers grabs your attention and influences positioning on the second shot. A green that subtly falls away from the approach ushers in the day's round.

CRAZY CREEK

HOLE 2   •   PAR 4   •   502 YARDS

A slightly-blind, downhill tee shot adjacent to Crazy Creek. Sinking Creek prevents a run-up shot from short of the green, which is most receptive to aerial approaches shaped right to left.

HIMALAYAS

HOLE 3   •   PAR 4   •   438 YARDS

With a panoramic view from a tee perched on the highest point on the property, this par 4 skirts the ridge-top and offers no change to those that stray left. The green has a magnetic dip on the left that seems to attract feeble approach shots.

SADDLE

HOLE 4   •   PAR 3   •   235 YARDS

This stout one-shotter features an unforgiving green nestled into a saddle. Taking a little more club is preferred, as short tee shots present a difficult up and down.

PUNCHBOWL

HOLE 5   •   PAR 4   •   338 YARDS

A short, two-shot hole offering multiple options from the tee. A semi-blind approach into a receptive punchbowl green makes for a brisk walk in anticipation of the next stroke.

LONG BARN

HOLE 6   •   PAR 3   •   219 YARDS

The Long Barn is a unique feature that frames this one-shotter. The green runs the length of the tobacco shed with a difficulty recovery from either side. More than a few balls have made their mark on the barn.

BOTTOM

HOLE 7   •   PAR 4   •   417 YARDS

This par 4 runs north below the ridgeline and narrows slightly as you approach the green. Keeping the tee shot right affords the best position to approach the green. A dip in the green protects the front and rear pin placements.

SYCAMORE

HOLE 8   •   PAR 4   •   322 YARDS

A short par 4 that demands a decision on the tee – any hesitation will produce an unsure stroke that squanders a birdie opportunity. The aggressive line calls for a confident swing. The approach shot is short, slightly uphill and the key is not to be long.

PLATEAU

HOLE 9   •   PAR 4   •   388 YARDS

The tee shot on this par 4 best favors the left side as the fairway runs out down the right with a cross-bunker. The green is benched into the hillside with a distinct angle and a two-tiered green. Short and right is to be avoided.

BARN

HOLE 10   •   PAR 4   •   445 YARDS

Steer clear of the Party Barn on this uphill tee shot. The downhill approach can be semi-bold from the left flank. The tumbling green is bisected by a ridge that can devilishly reject misplaced shots.

HEDGEROW

HOLE 11   •   PAR 5   •   498 YARDS

A straightway par 5 that again skirts the barn on the right. The gentle uphill tee shot gives way to a slightly downhill second. The green sits at the base of a ridge, shallow in depth, with surrounds that can be deceptively difficult to get up and down from.

HILLSIDE

HOLE 12   •   PAR 3   •   208 YARDS

This downhill one-shotter is benched into the ridge. Avoid being short or flaring right, where some of the deepest bunkers flank the putting surface. Don’t succumb to temptation and fire at the back right pin – shoot for the middle of the green and the ball will release towards the flag.

LONGVIEW

HOLE 13   •   PAR 4   •   490 YARDS

A sharply downhill tee shot with bunkers right. Sinking Creek fronts the green, making club selection crucial into the L-shaped putting surface, which is shallow on the right side.

NARROWS

HOLE 14   •   PAR 4   •   386 YARDS

A side-sloping two-shotter from tee to green. The hole is best played from the left side of the fairway. The sloping green is positioned to best accept a left to right approach, but remember that recovery from the right is simply impossible.

SHORT

HOLE 15   •   PAR 3   •   165 YARDS

A tumbling, downhill one-shotter that makes club selection a challenge, as short or long is not an option. A covey of bunkers protects the right side with a fresh-water marsh surrounding the rear of the peninsula green.

DUCK BLIND

HOLE 16   •   PAR 4   •   461 YARDS

A bunkerless hole anchored by Sinking Creek, which flanks the entire right side and exits the property near the trees. The long green is positioned hard against the creek with a left bailout.

SINKING CREEK

HOLE 17   •   PAR 4   •   468 YARDS

Trouble lurks down the left side on this par 4 in the form of both the creek and a strip bunker. The bunker will spare you from the water, but do not expect to reach the green on your approach. The putting surface is well-protected with especially challenging rear pin placement.

HOME

HOLE 18   •   PAR 5   •   550 YARDS

The Home hole has a generous landing area, maybe the widest on the course for this finishing three-shotter. The fairway meanders across a side slope to an uphill green situated on the top of the ridge. The front of the green has a false front and lackluster approaches seem to roll back to Abingdon.

BYE

HOLE 19   •   PAR 3   •   148 YARDS

The best way to get back to the Clubhouse is by playing the uphill, one-shot hole, and settling any outstanding wagers. A narrow, two-tiered green ensures that nobody is out of it until all putts are holed.
